While small, Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area is a great place to spend a day. The park seems to be quiet and not much visited (possibly with the exception of the picnic area). Longer hikes can be achieved by connecting to other parks.
Take a picnic and enjoy lunch in the lawn area after your hike.
The Laurel Loop and Lower Sea Foam Trails form the smallest loop trail but will provide you with a view of the San Pablo Dam and Reservoir.
For a longer hike, take the Upper Sea Foam trail to the Black Oak Loop Trail. The Black Oak Trail provides views into Richmond. There is a picnic table and trash can near the top which is well shaded.
From the park, you can also hike along the Bay Area Ridge Trail. However, the trail continues onto East Bay Municipal Utility District land. A permit, available online, is needed. For more information, visit the EBMUD website.
